The last five days have been very stressful in our house. Our ten year old darling, Garak, has been very unwell.
It started last Wednesday when we discovered him tearing up the lawn and any plants he could get hold off and eating them. I don't mean like many animals do if they are feeling unwell. It was as if he was frantic swallowing roots as well.
This resulted in him being very sick and fainting. The vet suspected he may have something stuck in his throat so anesthetized him to have a look.
On returning home he kept gulping air and having spasms throughout his body. On a return trip to the vets the next day he was given an anti vomiting injection as well an anti anti-inflammatory one. They also took blood tests to see if he had diabetes as he was obsessively drinking.
Saturday the symptoms returned with a vengeance and I really thought we would lose him. He was vomiting again and passing out and seemed to have trouble breathing.
Back to the vets we went and they now suspect liver disease.
We will know more on Wednesday when the latest blood results are in.
He has had another anti vomiting injection today and is more settled this evening.
Our poor boy, our hearts just bleed for him and I wish I could take the pain away for him, but we can't, we can just love him and pray and hope for the best.
What I'm hoping for is that the bloods will come back normal, the symptoms pass and he is back to his cheeky, cheerful self.

Margaret,
I am so sorry to hear that Garek is poorly, I do hope the news is good on Wednesday. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Oh dear friend, I hope your beautiful pet is soon well. It's so difficult to go through an illness with our pets. Hugs..
Wishing Garak well - and a speedy recovery from whatever is ailing him!
I do pray he will be better soon. I know how hard it is for a beloved pet to be ill. Tears are in my eyes now. After DearDog's surgery recently I nearly lost my mind trying to care for him. If they could only speak to us and tell us what hurts. We all do the best we can for them. Blessings to you both. Love, Liz
I am SO sorry to hear of this illness. I will put Garak in my circle of love prayer tonite - and YOU too! Please keep us updated.
Oh no, I hope Garak makes a swift and full recovery and is back to his usual self in the blink of an eye. I'll be thinking of you all x
I am sorry to hear about your boy. A pet takes our heart and holds a place in it forever. Isn't it crazy how we can love someone who never could speak a clear word to us in our language, but something in their eyes told us all we needed to know?
If only they could tell us where it hurts or what the problem is! Hopefully it will prove to be nothing serious and he'll be back to his old self soon.
Just ran by to see if you had any news on Garak. We are praying for you all at our house. Love, Liz
Hope Garak is feeling much better now...
xx
I am so, so sorry to hear about poor Garak. My prayers go out for him - yes, we must send healing white light out to the furry members of our family too. I hope that whatever he has is treatable.
XOXO, Julie
I'm so sorry to hear of his troubles and my heart just goes out to you Margaret... will keep the both of you in my thoughts *H*
Oh I'm so so sorry that Garek is feeling so bad! I truly hope it turns out to be nothing bad and that it'll just pass. It's so hard when our furry babies are sick and they really can't tell you anything and you really can't do much!
Hugs,
Manuela
I am sending prayers and warm thoughts your way. It is so emotionally stressful when our pets are ill. Get well soon Garak!
I'll hope for the passing of the symptoms as well. Sometimes they just get sick and come back fine. I hope for the best for that sweet face.
Just looking in for any news, will check back later. Hope he's already improved.
*H*
oh dear me, what did the test results show?

Garak is family, and like any close family member one feels so helpless when they are ill.
Like you I pray for him.
Blessings.
